About Coach Maja

Coach Maja - technical soccer coach in Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge

Maja’s soccer journey started on the red-dirt streets of Kampala, where he learned the game using bundled plastic bags as a ball. After his family fled the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and arrived in Canada as refugees, everything changed with real fields, real cleats, and real opportunity. That’s where his passion took off.

He went on to play for Kitchener SC, Waterloo United FC, and Wilfrid Laurier University, earning a roster spot for the 2019 season. Maja credits mentor Mario Halapir for shaping his understanding of positioning, first touch, and game intelligence.

As a coach, Maja is technical, motivating, and leadership-driven. He has coached ages U3 to U7, house league, camps, and is now a technical coach for Waterloo United FC’s League1 Women’s program. His training focuses on ball mastery, confidence, and game awareness—always showing players not just what they’re doing, but why it matters.

His philosophy is simple:
Talent helps but hard work, discipline, and attitude decide who rises.
